What is POMMARU?

POMMARU is an Australian adventure and discovery brand for children approximately 4–7 years old. Its books connect a story with colouring, observation, questions and activities, so children have a part in the discovery. The six-character crew models different ways to investigate. The wider vision includes future adventures, collections and carefully considered digital extensions; the physical book remains the starting point.

What age is POMMARU designed for?

The intended audience is approximately ages 4–7. This is a guide to the experience, rather than a test of what a child should be able to do. A grown-up can read aloud, help interpret a question or write down an answer. Children can participate by pointing, talking, drawing or colouring, and you can choose the parts that suit them.

Does my child need to read independently?

No. Shared reading is a useful way to enter the adventure. Read a short part of the story, give the child time to look at the illustration and ask what they notice. If they can read some words themselves, invite them to join in. Their contribution to the mystery can be an observation or an idea; it does not have to be a written answer.

How is this different from a collection of colouring pages?

This is one connected backyard mystery, rather than unrelated colouring pages. POMMARU notices that the flowers have gone quiet, and the crew follows clues to discover where the buzz went. Across 32 story-and-discovery sections, children listen, notice, explain ideas and explore full-page colouring scenes. They contribute as the seventh crew member.

What is a simple way to start an adventure?

Choose a comfortable place, open one page together and read its short story or instruction. Ask one question, such as “What do you notice?” Let the child point, colour, talk or try the activity before you explain your own idea. You can stop after that page or continue. The parent guide includes a fuller example, with an optional safe real-world connection.

How long should we spend on it?

There is no required session length or daily routine. One page and a short conversation can be enough, while another day a child may want to explore several pages. Follow their interest, allow pauses and return later. A planned Secret Mission’s digital prompt is brief; that is separate from how long you choose to spend on a real-world activity.

What materials do we need?

For the current page-based experience, start with the book and age-appropriate colouring materials chosen by the grown-up. A drawing space or plain paper can be useful for talking through an idea. Additional materials should only be used when a published activity asks for them and you consider them suitable. Final paper specifications and recommended colouring materials will be confirmed with the released edition.

What if my child gives a different answer or does not want to finish?

Ask them to show you what led to their idea. For an observation or creative task, more than one response may be useful; for a factual question, help them return to the clues without making the activity a performance test. It is fine to pause, skip a task or use another way to respond. There are no scores, daily streaks or completion leaderboards.

Discovery, participation & safety

What do Notice, Try, Make, Tell, Think and Connect mean?

They are six ways to participate. Notice means looking closely; Try means testing a safe idea; Make means drawing or building; Tell means sharing an observation or story; Think means comparing clues or finding a pattern; Connect means noticing relationships. The crew brings these approaches into the adventure. Children can use several of them together, and the modes are not fixed labels for a child’s ability or personality.

Why do you call the child the seventh crew member?

POMMARU, FEXLO, WOZZI, TILLI-TU, PLOOBI and TRELBI make up the six-character Core Crew. The invitation to be the seventh member means the child contributes: they spot a clue, test an idea, explain something or help make a connection. It is a story participation idea. It does not create a child profile, membership tier or online social account.

What kinds of learning opportunities does POMMARU offer?

The activities invite observation, comparison, counting where relevant, creative expression, conversation and reasoning about clues. These describe what children have opportunities to do. We do not claim guaranteed academic improvements, developmental outcomes or therapeutic benefits. POMMARU is not a diagnostic assessment, and how a child responds to an activity should not be used to judge school readiness or a developmental condition.

Can we adapt the activities for different ways of participating?

Yes. Depending on the task, a child might point instead of write, speak instead of draw, use a larger drawing area or have a grown-up record their words. You can reduce the number of items to compare, revisit an earlier clue or explore one part of the page. These are practical participation options; they do not amount to a specialist accessibility or therapeutic programme.

Do we need a backyard or access to bushland?

No. Begin with the illustration in the book. A suitable real-world connection might be looking through a window, noticing shapes in a safe familiar space or drawing something remembered. Any outdoor activity depends on the grown-up choosing a suitable place and supervising. The discovery approach should make room for families in different homes and settings rather than depend on a large garden.

How should we approach nature activities safely?

A responsible grown-up chooses the place, checks the conditions and stays with the child. For wildlife, the POMMARU principle is “Look with your eyes. Leave wildlife where it is.” Do not catch animals, disturb nests or burrows, taste unknown plants or fungi, or enter unsafe water. Use a book-based or indoor alternative if an activity is unsuitable for the setting or conditions.

Schools, early learning & educators

How might an educator use POMMARU?

An educator can use a page as a shared-reading prompt, a small-group conversation, a comparison activity or an invitation to draw and explain an idea. Begin with a story question, invite children to point to clues, then discuss what supports their thinking. The educator page includes an illustrative session sequence and a table connecting each discovery mode with an observable action.

Is POMMARU curriculum approved or formally endorsed?

No curriculum approval, education-authority endorsement or certified learning outcome is claimed for the current product. Educators should assess the actual pages against their setting, learning intentions and local requirements. Any future curriculum mapping would need specific, current and reviewed references. The guidance on this website explains participation opportunities without inventing curriculum codes or implying official endorsement.

Are there classroom packs or downloadable lesson plans?

Dedicated classroom packs and approved downloadable educator resources are not available yet. The website currently provides an educator guide, practical discussion prompts and real previews of the supplied book proof. The example session on the educator page is guidance you can read now; it is not an advertised pack waiting behind a download button.

Can a school photocopy or distribute the book pages?

The website does not grant a blanket permission to reproduce or distribute the book or its artwork. Before copying pages for a class, ask POMMARU to confirm the permissions that apply to the particular edition or resource. A preview on the website is there to help you assess the experience; it is not a statement of classroom reproduction rights.

Can schools place bulk orders or arrange an educator programme?

School ordering, bulk prices and any educator programme are not confirmed while the first book is in pre-release development. You can send an Educator enquiry through My POMMARU Messages with the setting, approximate quantity and information you need. Please keep the enquiry adult-facing and do not include student names or individual child records. No discount or dispatch date is promised at this stage.

Do students need devices or individual accounts?

No individual child account is part of the standard POMMARU system. The physical book is designed to remain usable without QR scanning. If an approved Secret Mission is used in a school later, an educator would manage the brief digital prompt and supervision in line with school policy. The current mission and audio features are not yet available.

My POMMARU, Secret Missions & privacy

What are Secret Missions?

The book includes two Secret Mission sections: The Sound Hunt and The Flower Visitor Watch. The digital extensions are planned as short grown-up-led prompts, followed by putting the screen away for real-world discovery. The printed sections appear in the current layout, but working QR destinations and narrated audio have not been released. Use the book’s written guidance with a responsible grown-up; do not assume a preview QR is live.

Do the QR codes and narrated missions work now?

Not yet. QR areas in the current proof show the intended digital extension, but book-linked mission pages and narration have not been released. Do not rely on a proof QR for a working experience. When a mission becomes available, its instructions should also be readable as text, and audio should start only when the grown-up chooses to play it.

Will a standard Secret Mission require a child login?

No. The approved MVP mission approach is open access with a simple “Grown-up needed” acknowledgement, rather than child identity verification, a child profile or an email gate. My POMMARU is a separate grown-up account for purchases, resources and support. Missions are not currently live; an account should not be mistaken for a requirement to read the physical adventure.

Who is My POMMARU for, and what does it contain?

My POMMARU belongs to the grown-up customer. After signing in with ChatGPT and activating an adult account, you can use its dashboard, adventure bookshelf, orders, Messages, coming-adventure interests, Discovery Collection and preferences. POMMARU Universe sits inside it. Verified purchases and staff-issued entitlements determine ownership; simply creating an account does not mean a book has been purchased.

Does POMMARU record a child’s mission history or location?

No child profile or personal mission-completion history is part of the account model. The site does not request child names, school details, photos, voice recordings or precise location. The grown-up account records ownership, purchases, support conversations and preferences, with coarse adult account-page activity for relationship analytics. Please also avoid putting unnecessary child information into support messages. More detail is available on the privacy page.

What is the Discovery Collection or Discovery Passport?

The wider collection idea connects adventures with physical Passport items and selected approved collectables. In My POMMARU, Discovery Collection shows account-level ownership and any collectable entitlements POMMARU has issued. It does not record how a child performed an activity. A physical Passport, badge or reward should not be assumed to be included with a book unless the released product specifically confirms it.

Why is merchandise inside POMMARU Universe?

The public website keeps the focus on adventures and discovery. The authenticated Universe gives registered grown-ups a separate place for collections, crew content, approved member extras and merchandise. Current merchandise concepts are not available to purchase. When approved items become available, a limited optional item may be offered in a registered customer’s cart; nothing is added automatically.

Books, availability & support

What can I see in the current book preview?

The latest preview is POMMARU and the Backyard Mystery: Where Did the Buzz Go? Its current layout has 68 interior pages, including opening pages and a final blank, with 32 story-and-discovery sections. Each section pairs a full-colour story and child-participation page on the left with a full-page colouring illustration on the right. The cover and six page previews on this website come directly from that supplied layout. Final artwork and production checks are still underway.

Can I buy the first book or start a subscription now?

Purchasing is not open yet. The latest Backyard Mystery layout is in final production review, with artwork and print checks still outstanding. Price, release timing, shipping arrangements and commerce terms must be confirmed before sale. There is no active subscription plan or recurring payment. Saving interest in Coming Adventures is not a pre-order or purchase.

What are the delivery and returns arrangements?

Delivery coverage, shipping charges, dispatch timing and the final returns process have not been published for an open sale. They will need to be clear before purchasing starts. Do not treat a concept listing or a book proof as an available order. If you have an account question now, use Messages; existing verified orders, where applicable, have contextual support links in the account.

How can I hear about future adventures?

In My POMMARU, open Coming Adventures to save a title, choose Notify me or record interest in pre-orders opening. These choices record the grown-up’s interest. Release dates and themes will only be shown when approved. Current notifications live in the account; email delivery is not enabled. You can also manage optional news and promotional preferences separately from your order and support updates.

How do I contact POMMARU or manage my account information?
